August at The Oak
Throughout the month of August things look a little different at The Oak. We are taking the opportunity to invest in loving and caring for our communities. We have a huge heart for Leeds and Bradford and we want to create space to engage with our cities.
We are hosting some projects to help with this, but we'd encourage you to be intentional about connecting with friends, neighbours and those outside of the church throughout the month! What would it look like for you to do some random acts of kindness, to invite someone round for a meal, or to offer to help with something for a friend?
Each Sunday we have some plans and we'd love you to join us where possible!
4th August: Litter picking and picnic in Farsley/Stanningley. We'll be gathering at The Oak from 10:15am for a 10:30 start. We'll head out from The Oak in groups and then gather at the end for a picnic in Hainsworth Park at 12:00.
11th August: Litter picking and picnic in Bradford. We’ll be gathering at Fearnville Primary School (Fearnville Drive, Bradford, BD4 8DX) from 10.15am for a 10.30am start. There is ample parking there – although be aware that another church meets at the school. All equipment (bags, litter pickers and gloves) will be provided. We will gather back in the grounds of the school for a picnic starting latest at 12.30pm. Feel free to join us just for the picnic.
18th August: Community BBQ. We'll be hosting a BBQ for all those we are connected with (Foodbank, Coffee & Chaos, Connect Lunch). Join us at The Oak from 11:00am-1:00pm. Please bring salads, rolls, puddings, drinks etc! We'll be providing the meat.
25th August: Summer Celebration. Join us at The Oak at 10:30am to worship together and hear stories of what God has been doing throughout August. We'll then be having a bring and share meal together - so bring lots of tasty food!
