Hi. We hope you enjoy catching up!

Welcome and thank you for joining us. If this is your first time at The Oak, hello, we hope you enjoy our time together today.

Our plan today is to start by worshiping together with one of our worship leaders (song words will be on-screen). After that, there'll be a time of prayer and news, followed by a short talk.

There are materials on this page for our 0-3's (The Nest), Preschool to Year 6 (Treehouse) and Year 7+ (Oak Youth) to help the whole family grow together.

Happy Sunday, see you at 10.30am!

You can also catch up to all our talks via our podcast here.

The NestGod Made Me Week 12
0-3's

This is our final week learning about how God created us and how we have amazing bodies that can do so many things. This week we will be learning about how God made us able to move in lots of different ways.

Verse ‘I praise You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made.’ Psalm 139v14

Book God knows all about me by Claire Page and God loves little me by Rebecca Elliott (see links here). Tamsin, one of our Nest team, and two very special helpers have also recorded a brilliant video of one of this term’s books using Makaton signs (see the video here).

Songs Deep, deep, deep - Jesus loves me - Great big God - Guess what, God loves you - Jump around (see the videos here) - God made my head, shoulders, knees and toes (lyrics below, sing the first line however you’d like to and then into the normal tune).

God made my…Head, shoulders, knees and toes, knees and toes. Head, shoulders, knees and toes. knees and toes. And eyes and ears and mouth and nose. Head, shoulders, knees and toes, knees and toes.

Activity 1 Play copy me game (Can you…wiggle your fingers, bend your knees, put your hands on your head, turn around etc?). Then talk about how God made us able to move in lots of different ways.

Activity 2 Create an obstacle course/stations of movement activities in your home. Do add in any others you can think of using things from around your home. Talk about the different types of movements as your child does the activities and remind them that God made us able to move!

  • Balance bean bags on heads
  • Hop between stepping stones (e.g. cushions)
  • Aim objects into hoops
  • Throwing and catching
  • Jumping over items
  • Egg (ball) and spoon race
  • Throwing balls/balloons into buckets
  • Parachute games (could do these with a big sheet)

TreehouseLife of Jesus - Miracles: Jesus Heals a Paralysed Man
Preschool - Year 6

Game: Put some potatoes (or something heavy ) into a bucket/bag and take it in turns carrying it around.

Continue to add more potatoes and make the distance which the bucket needs to be carried longer – see who is willing to carry the bucket for longest. How long would you be able to carry the bucket for? To the post box? To the Town street? To your school?

Say that in today’s story, 4 friends carried a large weight a long way!

Read: Luke 5: 17 - 26

Check out the video: to learn about another mircale that Jesus did - When he healed the paralysed man.

Reflection: What is God trying to tell you through this story? What does the story tell us about Jesus and his nature?

Memory Verse

Everyone praised God, saying, “We have never seen anything like this!” Mark 2:12

Activities:

Junk Modelling - Using a box can you make the house where Jesus was teaching. Open a hole in the roof, decorate the sides, drawing windows, doors and even people. Talk about the story, about how it would have felt to be lowered to Jesus and then to be healed. What would onlookers have thought?

Lolly Pop Stretcher - Using two lolly pops and some paper - make a stretcher for the Paralysed man to lay on. Can you add a person to it too?

 Prayer

The reason the man in today’s story was healed was because the friends took him to Jesus.  We can take our friends to Jesus by praying for them.

Draw a person shape on the lining paper.  We all know someone who has something wrong with them. Write your friend’s name on a plaster and stick it on the person shape.

Pray that God will heal all the people whose names are on the person.

Encourage your children to pray along in their heads, for their special person.Or they may want to pray out loud.

Why not share what you've been up to on the Treehouse Parents Facebook Group?
