Hi. We hope you enjoy catching up!

Welcome and thank you for joining us. If this is your first time at The Oak, hello, we hope you enjoy our time together today.

Our plan today is to start by worshiping together with one of our worship leaders (song words will be on-screen). After that, there'll be a time of prayer and news, followed by a short talk.

There are materials on this page for our 0-3's (The Nest), Preschool to Year 6 (Treehouse) and Year 7+ (Oak Youth) to help the whole family grow together.

Happy Sunday, see you at 10.30am!

You can also catch up to all our talks via our podcast here.

The NestNoah’s Ark Week 2
0-3's

This week we are going to be learning about how Noah collected and paired up the animals.

Verse ‘Noah did everything just as God commanded him.’ Genesis 6v22

Book Noah’s Ark by Lucy Cousins (see link here). If you don’t have a copy of this book (or any other Noah’s Ark story book) then have a look at this video of the story (see the video here).

Songs The animals went in two by two - Who built the ark - All through history - Deep, deep, deep - Praise the Lord (see the videos here).

Activity Here are a few different activities to help us think about how God asked Noah to pair up the animals onto his boat.

  • Play a matching game, this can be done either inside or outside. Take turns with your child to find one object. It can be anything, a stone, a sock, a toy. The other person then needs to look for a matching item e.g. another stone or sock.
  • Play an animal pairs game using pictures/cards/game or puzzle pieces/toys. Hide one set of animals around the room and put the second set in the middle. Ask your child to find the hidden animals and match them with their pairs.
  • Print a copy of this animal pairs activity (or you could draw your own if you don’t have a printer) and draw lines between the matching animals (see link here). There is also a page for slightly older ones (see link here) with lots of different sheets where you can match the animals with their shadows.

Treehouse4 points - God Loves Me - Week 1
Preschool - Year 6

New series alert! Today we are starting a new series called 4 points! We have paused Telling God’s Story for now and will come back to that in the new year. We have mainly been looking at people’s stories from the Old Testament, the bit of the bible before Jesus came to Earth. But now we will be skipping forward to the New Testament and learning about the message Jesus came to give us.

Check out the video for the content, the activities and of course the TEAM CHALLENGE!

Today we will be looking at the first of our 4 points! God Loves Me!

The first thing you need to know is God loves you! He is crazy about you, his love for you is unlimited and unconditional! That means there is nothing you can do to make God love you any more or less than he does right now. Not only does God love you but he has an amazing plan and purpose to your life. That is why he is desperate to have a relationship with you, he doesn’t want you to miss out on the incredible future he has for you. There is nothing that God wants more than to love and be loved by you.

Worship:

Shine

My God is so Big

This is Living

Activities: Get the resources from Week 1's pack. (If you do not have a pack, please contact Lucy@theoakchurch.co.uk) Examples are at the end of the video.

1) Can you use the wax crayons, and paper to draw some images relating to love. Then get out your paints and paintbrush to pain over it .. the images you have drawn with wax crayon will resist the paint and show through.

2) Have a go at making this next craft by doing a footprint on the white card. Then write one or all of these phrases …

Jesus is Toe-tally Awesome!

God Loves Me Toe-tally!

Jesus Loves You Toe-tally!

Jesus Toe-tally Loves You!

God is Toe-tally Awesome!

I Toe-tally Love Jesus!

3) Make a Popcorn Praises snack!  Show your children some un-popped popcorn and tell them that the kernels are like children who haven’t found Jesus.  Without the warmth of God’s love they haven’t burst to life.  Pop the popcorn.  When God’s love warms our hearts we burst with happiness and praises to Jesus burst out of us.  We can’t help but tell others how much we love Him and how great we think He is.  Then eat the popcorn together!

Oak YouthThe Wedding Feast
Year 7+

Please have a pencil/pen, paper, and a bible handy for our zoom call 7-8.30pm on Sunday.

This week we are reading the parable of the wedding banquet. Some of it is pretty direct, but there are a few bits that could be read in different ways. Have a good conversation with your parent/carer about it and we'll talk about it on Zoom too!

READ: Matthew 22:2-4

THINK: Hopefully you'll realise this isn't about an actual banquet. It's a story that shows a bit about the kingdom of heaven. The invite to the wedding feast can be compared to God's invite to heaven.

So.... who do you think these people in the story represent? Write down/draw a stick figure of each person and write who you think it might be.

Here's the list: The king, those who didn't come to the feast, those who did come to the feast, the one who came to the feast but did not wear wedding clothes. (hints if hard: in no order, match them with... someone who accepts Jesus, someone who doesn't, someone who hears about Jesus but doesn't do anything about it, and God).

MAKE: an invite to heaven! It needs to include:

Who is inviting you (God!)

Some good things there could be in heaven

How to RSVP - by accepting Jesus as God and the only one to pay for the things we have done wrong against what God asks.

If you can, bring it to the Sunday zoom meeting (we'll pick an invite we'd like!)

WATCH:

Worship song video "I am who you say I am". Are the words what you would think too? Why/why not? Listen again and if you want, sing these words in your heart too.

Nothing but the Blood

God bless your week!
