Welcome and thank you for joining us. If this is your first time at The Oak, hello, we hope you enjoy our time together today.

Our plan today is to start by worshipping together (song words will be on-screen). After that, there'll be a time of prayer and news, followed by a short talk.

There are materials on this page for our 0-3's (The Nest), Preschool to Year 6 (Treehouse) and Year 7+ (Oak Youth) to help the whole family grow together.

Happy Sunday, see you at 10.30am!

The NestGod’s Wonderful World Week 4
0-3's

This term in the Nest we are learning about the world around us to help us remember to be thankful for all the wonderful places God has created. This week we are looking at the Desert!

Verse ‘I will give thanks to You, Lord, with all my heart; I will tell of all Your wonderful deeds.’ Psalm 9v1

Book Five Minute Bible Stories by Fiona Boon & Hayley Down (pages 71-91) (see link here). Tamsin, one of our fantastic Nest team, has recorded a video of this term’s book including a Makaton signed story and song (see link here).

Songs Who’s the king of the jungle - Creator God - If I were a butterfly - Praise the Lord - When I look (see the videos here) - Father God (to the tune of Old MacDonald, lyrics below, have a go at making up more verses with your child about other things you can find in the Desert).

Father God made the world, E-I-E-I-O,

And in the Desert He made it hot, E-I-E-I-O

With a *wipe hand across forehead and say ‘phew’ like it’s hot* here, and a *wipe hand across forehead and say ‘phew’ like it’s hot* there etc.

Activity 1 Make mosaic lizards by first printing or drawing an outline of a lizard. Let your child decorate this with cut out pieces of card/tissue paper and googly eyes (see here for an example of this activity).

Activity 2 Make a cactus picture using whatever resources you have available. See here for an example of this activity using green rice to make the spines. To make the green rice, put some rice in a food bag with a blob of green paint and mix it around to fully cover the rice in the paint. Then lay it out on some greaseproof paper to dry. Once dry it can be stuck onto your cactus picture.

While you make your lizard/cactus pictures, remind your child that God made the Desert and all the animals and plants that are there - we can thank God for the wonderful Desert.

TreehouseFruit of the Spirit - Gentleness
Preschool - Year 6

Welcome back to our next Fruit of the Spirit - Gentleness

Check out the video to see some of the Treehouse kids being gentle, to hear what Rob has to say and to watch the video together.

Our Memory Verse for today is:

Colossians 3:12, : "Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience."

Worship:

Fruit of the Spirit songIt wouldn't be the same without this catch song to get us moving.

Happy Day - Let's start our moring with praise and worship.

Just Dance with Forgiveness - Jesus forgave the Sinful woman, and showed her love and gentleness

Questions:

  1. Would you prefer to eat a spoonful of sugar or a spoonful of salt?
  2. What does it feel like when you get salt on a cut or a scratch?
  3. How does it feel when you have done something wrong and someone corrects you harshly, or tells you off?
  4. How does the bible say we should speak to each other?
  5. Is it easy to be gentle and loving to others all of the time?
  6. Who can help us?

Jesus was gentle – and Jesus is someone I want to be like. Have a think this week for times you can be gentle too.  Let’s try and clothe ourselves with Gentleness just like it said it our bible verse for today.

Activities

  1.  Can you create a jar of perfume (from a paper plate and stickers) to remind you of what the sinful woman did at Jesus’ feet? Remember how gentle he was with her and he showed her love.
  2. Draw round your feet, and create footprints – can you write down our memory verse from the start of the session?
  3. Can you decorate boiled eggs, with gentleness and care … Get an adult to help you boil them, then let them cool before painting.
Why not share what you've been up to on the Treehouse Parents Facebook Group?

Oak Youth Youth Alpha - episode 4 - How can we have faith?
Year 7+

It’s that time in the week again where we get to continue exploring our faith in Jesus in a deeper way together! This week we will be looking at the question ‘How can we have faith’?

Use the concordance in your bible to look up the word ‘faith’. Read a few verses & and consider what it would look like for you on a day to day basis to have faith in Jesus. Here’s a couple of verses to get you started - Ephesians 2:8-9 & Galatians 2:20.

Why not stick on some worship music from the the Oak resource page and spend some time letting it wash over you. Listen to the words and allow them to speak to your spirit, encouraging you and building up your faith as you listen.

See you later on! Same deets as usual - Zoom at 7-9:30pm
