Big Questions - Does prayer change anything?
29th August 2021
Yes yes and yes … Prayer changes everything!
Your prayers are powerful
Your prayers can change people’s lives
Your prayers can change this world and change you!
We are called to pray!
We won’t stop!
We can’t stop!
As our prayers go up – it’s Jesus who provides!
This video was about ending World Poverty but whatever is in your heard and mind I was to set you a challenge to pray about it!
Maybe you want to pray for someone who is sick, but not just once, but again and again! With faith until they are well!
Maybe you want to pray for someone who is sad, mad happy or glad.
Maybe you want to pray for someone to find Jesus?
Maybe you want to pray for people without homes?
Maybe you want to pray for your friends at school?
I ask you today – to choose to pray! Even when you feel nothing is happening. Jesus hears your prayers and listens! Does prayer change anything? Absolutely yes!

2 - Sleeping Lions. Can you pretent to be asleep? Choose someone to be on, they have to try and get a reation from you without touching you.
Check out to video to see today's story.
Worship: These will be the songs in the parent led sessions over the summer, so it would be good to play them to the children so they can start learning them.

Get your string and thread the end of the string through the bottom of one cup, and tie a knot big enough to keep it inside.
Then you need to take the other end of the string and thread it through the second cup.
You can decorate the cups too!
Then use them to pass sounds to a friend – like a telephone. with the string stretched taut, one person talks into the cup while the other places the second cup to their ear. Sound travels along the string and into the second cup.
3. Using the masking tape, find a large cardboard box or paper and write JESUS out using the tape. Then you can paint over – wait for it to dry and peel off the tape to Reveal the name above all names!

Life of Jesus - Miracles - Jesus Heals Blind Bartimaeus
6th June 2021
Welcome back to Treehouse - We are retuning to our series LIFE OF JESUS - MIRACLES
Where we are learning more about some of the miracles Jesus did, and thinking about what they tell us about Him.
Our story can we found in Mark 10:46-52, why don't you check it out and have a read together as a family.
Our video today includes games and Rob is reading out the story to us, enjoy watching and joining in with the activities.

- Each one of us is important to Jesus – Make some badges you can wear saying –
“Jesus loves me”
“Important to God”
God says I am special”
Or you can come up with your own badge design.
- Use some pictures from the news to think about others - although we don’t know these people, God knows all about them and loves them. Why don’t you pray for the people in the pictures as a family?
Have a fantastic week
Lucy and the Treehouse Team
Fruit of the Spirit - Self Control
23rd May 2021
We have reached the final session in our Fruit of the Spirit Series - Where we have learnt about how we recognise God in our every day lives.
Today we have Lucy talking to us about Self Control. Check out the video to see some friendly faces, and to watch the challenge.
Game 1: Donut challenge
You will need a sugar donut (or something sugary) to have a go at the challenge youself. The aim is to eat the donut without licking your lips - using self control to stop yourself.
Game 2: Giggle game
Choose someone to be on, they have to stand in the middle of the room and try not to laugh, while the rest of the family attempts to make them giggle. You cannot touch them, but can make silly noises and pull faces.
Questions for discussion
• Can you think of some times in life when we shouldn’t laugh?
• Eating is fun, like laughing is fun, but there is a time to eat and a time to stop eating. When is it time to stop eating?
• Playing is fun. But when Mom or Dad say it is time to stop, it can be tempting to continue. When is it time to stop playing?
• Chasing around and being silly is fun, but there is a time and a place for silliness
Worship
Activities:
1. Can you make a ‘self – controller’ using a small box or some card, foil to make it shiny and stickers to create the buttons.
James 1:19, NLT: "Understand this, my dear brothers and sisters: You must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry."
2. Can you make a set of traffic lights, with ideas on for when you need to stop and think about using self-control?
3. Can you reflect back on all the fruits of the spirit – and Create a Tree with them on. Be creative and see what you can come up with.
Fruit of the Spirit - Gentleness
16th May 2021
Welcome back to our next Fruit of the Spirit - Gentleness
Check out the video to see some of the Treehouse kids being gentle, to hear what Rob has to say and to watch the video together.
Our Memory Verse for today is:
Colossians 3:12, : "Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience."
Worship:
Fruit of the Spirit song - It wouldn't be the same without this catch song to get us moving.
Happy Day - Let's start our moring with praise and worship.
Just Dance with Forgiveness - Jesus forgave the Sinful woman, and showed her love and gentleness
Questions:
- Would you prefer to eat a spoonful of sugar or a spoonful of salt?
- What does it feel like when you get salt on a cut or a scratch?
- How does it feel when you have done something wrong and someone corrects you harshly, or tells you off?
- How does the bible say we should speak to each other?
- Is it easy to be gentle and loving to others all of the time?
- Who can help us?
Jesus was gentle – and Jesus is someone I want to be like. Have a think this week for times you can be gentle too. Let’s try and clothe ourselves with Gentleness just like it said it our bible verse for today.
Activities
- Can you create a jar of perfume (from a paper plate and stickers) to remind you of what the sinful woman did at Jesus’ feet? Remember how gentle he was with her and he showed her love.
- Draw round your feet, and create footprints – can you write down our memory verse from the start of the session?
- Can you decorate boiled eggs, with gentleness and care … Get an adult to help you boil them, then let them cool before painting.

Thought for the session
Have you ever stopped to think about how incredible it is that the sun rises each and every day? It’s something that I often take for granted. God has promised us that, “While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night, shall not cease.” [Genesis 8:22, ESV] What a magnificent promise and just a glimmer of His faithfulness to His children.
Worship
Fruit of the Spirit song - It wouldn't be the same without this catch song to get us moving.
Be Exalted - Watoto Children's Choir - What a vibrant, exciting song declaring that we lift Jesus up! Check it out!
Activities
- Can you paint a rainbow to remind you of the story and the fact that god always keep his promises, you can use your finger or a cotton bud to make the pattern? (Find the template here)

Fruit of the Spirit - Goodness
2nd May 2021
Welcome back to Treehouse as we continue our series the Fruit of the Spirit.
Today we will be learning about Goodness.
For this sesion it would be helpful if you had a banana and some citrus fruits for tasting and paint staming.
Check out the video to learn more about Goodness and to watch the game.
Thought for the session
When God made us, he made us to be like Him. And since Jesus is God, we’re made to be like Jesus too. So, if Jesus is good (and He is!), we’re designed to be good as well!
This week ask God to help you make Good choices, he is always ready to help!
Worship:
Fruit of the Spirit song - It wouldn't be the same without this catch song to get us moving.
Activities:
1) Goodness on the inside.
Take a banana and pass it round, then decorate your banana, drawing on it to change its appearance. Open the banana once finished and talk about how what we see on the outside doesn't show us what is on the inside. Only God sees our hearts & only the Holy Spirit working inside of us can create goodness in our heart.
2) Taste and See stamp painting
- Instructions:
- Get out the Taste & See card from your pack
- Cut the citrus fruit of your choice in half.
- Squeeze paint onto a plate.
- Dip the fruit in the paint and then stamp it on the paper.
- Let dry completely before hanging up.
3) Can you make a delicious smoothie?
- Supplies: 1 Cup Frozen Blueberries, 1/2 cup Vanilla (or plain) Greek Yogurt, 1 Cup of Your Favorite Milk, Optional: Honey & Frozen Banana (to taste), Blender
Or any ingredients you fancy
- Instructions:
- Add all of the ingredients to the blender.

The Fruits of the Spirit - Kindness
25th April 2021
Welcome back to Treehouse as we continue our series the Fruits of the Spirit.
Today we will be learning about Kindness!
It is easy to be kind to people we love, but I wonder how easy it is to be kind to all people?
Our memory verse for today is - Be kind to one another"
Ephesians 4:32
We will be thinking about a story where a man shows kindess to another - The Good Samaritan.
Watch the video to see what Katy has to say, and to hear from some of the kids in Treehouse!
Worship:
Fruit of the Spirit song - It wouldn't be the same without this catch song to get us moving.
ElevateKIDS | "Give a Little Kindness" - Check out this song from ElevateKIDS all about God;s Kindness
Good Good Father - Spend some time thinking about God and thanking him for being such a Good Good Father to us.
Questions:
Why do you think the Samaritan helped the man who was hurt?
Why did the others not help him?
How did the other characters make you feel?
What would you have done? Why?
What is kindness?
How do you know if someone is being kind?
How is God kind?
How do you show kindness?
Activities:
- Can you make a kindness cloud, saying nice things about the people in your family to stick on underneath? Stick these up somewhere to remind each other about all the good things inside!
- Use plasters to make these cards and pray for healing for people.
- Make Chatterboxes with random acts of kindness, you can use the one in your pack or make your own.
- Create Kindness stones to give to someone – to say something kind to them.
Life of Jesus - Miracles: Jesus Heals a Paralysed Man
18th April 2021
Game: Put some potatoes (or something heavy ) into a bucket/bag and take it in turns carrying it around.
Continue to add more potatoes and make the distance which the bucket needs to be carried longer – see who is willing to carry the bucket for longest. How long would you be able to carry the bucket for? To the post box? To the Town street? To your school?
Say that in today’s story, 4 friends carried a large weight a long way!
Read: Luke 5: 17 - 26
Check out the video: to learn about another mircale that Jesus did - When he healed the paralysed man.
Reflection: What is God trying to tell you through this story? What does the story tell us about Jesus and his nature?
Memory Verse
Everyone praised God, saying, “We have never seen anything like this!” Mark 2:12
Activities:
Junk Modelling - Using a box can you make the house where Jesus was teaching. Open a hole in the roof, decorate the sides, drawing windows, doors and even people. Talk about the story, about how it would have felt to be lowered to Jesus and then to be healed. What would onlookers have thought?
Lolly Pop Stretcher - Using two lolly pops and some paper - make a stretcher for the Paralysed man to lay on. Can you add a person to it too?
Prayer
The reason the man in today’s story was healed was because the friends took him to Jesus. We can take our friends to Jesus by praying for them.
Draw a person shape on the lining paper. We all know someone who has something wrong with them. Write your friend’s name on a plaster and stick it on the person shape.
Pray that God will heal all the people whose names are on the person.
Encourage your children to pray along in their heads, for their special person.Or they may want to pray out loud.
Life of Jesus - Miracles: Water into Wine
11th April 2021
Before we head back to the Fruit of the Spirit we are going to dip into a new series for 2 weeks looking at a couple of stories which tell us something about Jesus and his life.
New Series - Life of Jesus - Miracles.
Today we will look at - Water into wine! This was the first miracle that Jesus did!
GAME: This game could be in the garden, or in the house. Can you get some containers? Fill them with water (then add juice to make it look like wine) at one end, and at the other end leave them empty. Your job is to transfer the liquid from one set of containers to the other without spilling any. You could use straws, a plastic cup or even your hands .... the aim is to move the liquid from the full container to the empy one, competing against each other and having fun.
Read: John 2 : 1- 11
Check out the video - the format is slightly different without crafts, but there is more opportunity to sit and discuss what the story tells us about Jesus and about who he is.
Reflection: Can you think of something that God has provided for you today? Can you take some time to write it down?
Memory Verse
My God shall supply all your needs. Philippians 4:19
Activities:
Get a square or rectangle of silver foil. Can you make it into a cup or glass shape? (Top Tip - Roll it into a tube and twist one end to make the stalk of the glass flattening out the bit at the bottom so it can stand.) Can you come up with an unusual design? See if it will hold any liquid.
Write down on post it notes, or slips of paper all the things that God has provided for you. Take some material and place them all on top. Let everyone hold an edge of the sheet and wave it up and down, letting the paper fly into the air and back down as you shout out, “Thank you for providing for us!”.
Pray:
Jesus as we learn more about you, we pray that you will reveal who you are to us today. We ask you to come and speak to us and lead us. Amen

- Put on some quiet music and sit with your family, doing something calm. Talk about your worries and ask God to give you peace. Maybe you could bake bread, or decorate biscuits or draw a picture.
- Can you find a pot, and use the items in your pack to decorate it. Turn this pot into a peace pot – and write your worries onto lolly pop sticks so you can pick sticks throughout the week to pray about.
- Sometimes we all get angry, get out the tub of slime and squeeze it, sharing your anger with God and ask him to take it away.
The Fruits of the Spirit - Joy
14th February 2021
This week we are learning about Joy, we will be looking at a video of the prodigal son, and thinking about the father's Joy when his son returned.
Message for parents: The video does not touch on how we see joy in our own lives as we come closer to Jesus, so that might be a nice point to discuss and talk about together.
Our memory verse for this series is ‘The fruit of the spirit is, Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faith, Gentleness and Self Control.’ Galatians 5:22 – 23

2) Blow up a balloon and play a game ‘keep it up’ the aim of the game is to not let the balloon touch the floor, you can use any body part to keep it up. Have some fun playing as a family.
